⛷ Aspencoin is Asken for no handouts

Security tokens can be daunting from the surface, but it really doesn't have to be.

When I talk to my friends, family, or people interested in the space I almost always use the St. Regis Resort based in Aspen, Colorado as an example!

Why?

Because it's the most relatable asset in the industry to conceptually grasp.

Everyone has heard of the St. Regis hotel chain and of Aspen, Colorado.

The story gets even better as the world-renown holders of Aspencoin just received a dividend distribution!

Before we dive into the dividend, come take a walk with me down memory lane.

Here's a timeline of everything that has transpired:

1992: The St. Regis Aspen Resort opened as a Ritz-Carlton hotel.

1998: Starwood acquired the property and converted it into a St.Regis branded hotel.

2010: An investment firm called 315 East Dean Associates, Inc purchased the St. Regis Aspen Resort from Starwood for ˜$70 million.

2016: Aspen Digital was formed to exclusively own the rights to the St.Regis Aspen Resort. Therefore, every investor who owns an Aspencoin actually is an owner of Aspen Digital. However, since Aspen Digital's only asset is the St.Regis Resort, the investor is still an owner of the resort.

2018: The team initially wanted to do an IPO of the St.Regis Resort, which would have made them the first single-asset REIT publicly traded on an American exchange. Fortunately, Stephane De Baets and his team, discovered that conducting an STO would better accomplish their goals.

2018 Continued: The team successfully raised approximately $18 million via an STO utilizing the Reg D 506(c) exemption.

August 2020: AspenCoin ($ASPD) gets listed on tZERO and secondary trading was off to the races!

June 2022: ASPD holders received a $0.044 dividend per Common Share (net fees).

It's been a long journey for Aspencoin, especially with the hit the hotel suffered throughout the pandemic, but the dividend distribution clearly shows that they have successfully persevered.

According to tZERO, holders have the ability to collect their dividend in the form of a cryptocurrency:

"ASPDholders receiving payments greater than $25 may elect to receive Bitcoin, as opposed to the default option of receiving cash. The cash will automatically credit to your tZERO Markets account, whereas the Bitcoin will be deposited into your Coinbase account. Those eligible to receive Bitcoin will receive an election form to complete via Docusign, which is due at COB on Thursday, June 23rd."

Hear from Stephane De Baets too:

This is just a little bit of the innovation that Aspencoin has been cultivating over the years.

In fact, token holders have the right to some pretty cool perks too!

Here are some of them:

  1. In proportion to the number of shares you own, you receive a discount on your hotel stay!

  2. Seasonal benefits such as an exclusive Lamborghini test driving experience.
